Really enjoying the leading hand aspect of my current role ensuring my colleagues have all the assistance they require in order for them to do there jobs to the best of there ability and ultimately provide a good service to our blue chip customer.

Quick learner and always looking for opportunities to further my career.

  • Started this FIFO role as workshop based in Port hedland carrying out repairs on all types of equipment from road transport earthmoving machinery/forkliftts/Screening and crushing plants etc.
  • Within 12months was Leading hand of the site support department which looked after mainly BHP assets
  • Shortly after was moved into a Site based role to assist the BHP Rail network maintenance team to set up and carry out a preventative maintenenace plan for a fleet of around 50 trucks/loaders/hi-rail excavators etc, whilst doing this was providing breakdown support between Port hedland and Newman operations, leading/assisting a crew of 5 Fitters.
  • Trained junior mechanics on best practices for heavy vehicle repair work, increasing overall team efficiency and expertise.
  • Assisted fleet managers in developing cost-effective maintenance plans tailored to their specific operational needs and budget constraints.
  • Contributed to the development of company-wide best practices for heavy vehicle maintenance, ensuring consistent service quality across all locations.
  • Developed preventative maintenance plans to limit operational disruption.
  • Collaborated with team of technicians to complete projects and meet deadlines.

  • Utilized hand tools and power tools to repair and maintain diesel engines according to industry standards.
  • Performed preventive maintenance on engines, transmissions, tires, and other vehicle systems.
  • Troubleshot electrical system issues accurately to reduce the likelihood of recurring problems down the line.
  • Installed new systems and components in vehicles.
  • New truck fit ups from factory to custom completion, including PTO fit ups required for different applications tippers/fuel pump units/walking floors etc. advanced electrical fit ups using integrated Volvo body builder systems.
  • Wiring up of all electrical accessories from lights to battery management systems.
  • Remove, disassemble, reassemble and refit gearboxes/diffs, suspension systems.
  • Rostered on to a 24/7 breakdown service since the 2nd year of my apprenticeship which has turned out to be an invaluable skill to learn, knowing how to work in high pressure scenarios.
  • Spent quite a lot of time in the engineering department to assist with manufacturing of custom medium duty truck trays, major repairs on semi-trailers cracked chassis rails/ suspension hangers etc.
  • This company also owns a mobile hose franchise (HIFLEX). Providing a 24/7 call out service and hose manufacturing for all hydraulic/food grade hose needs. When I was given the opportunity to be a part of this, I jumped on it. The major benefit to this decision was then being able to complete power take off systems completely from start to finish. Electric/pneumatic controls/mounting pumps/valves/tanks and manufacture hoses for different applications.
