I am a dedicated and motivated student currently studying Nursing at James Cook University, with a GPA of 6.75. With five years of experience in the dental industry, I am certain that dentistry is exactly where I’m meant to be. Now in my third year of applying, I remain more committed than ever to achieving this goal and contributing meaningfully to rural and underserved communities.

I hold a Certificate III in Dental Assisting, which provided a strong foundation in clinical skills and patient care, and a Diploma of Business, which has enhanced my organisation, leadership, and communication skills, essential qualities for a future healthcare professional.

• This qualification has allowed me to hone my skills, knowledge, and practical experience. The coursework reinforced my understanding of dental anatomy, radiography, patient care and clinical procedures, enabling me to support dentists efficiently and confidently. Dental Assisting was not a part of my school’s VET program; however, driven by my passion to pursue a dental career and desire to learn more about dentistry, I coordinated the implementation of the Certificate III in Dental Assisting into my school’s VET curriculum. Recognising my continued dedication to academic studies and my enthusiasm for dentistry, I was able to pioneer in the pursuit of this qualification. With the support of the Australian Academy of Dental Assisting, this course was added to the VET curriculum, creating a viable pathway to a career in dentistry for future students.
