As a mechanical fitter for Metro Trains Melbourne I performed various tasks such as;

• Preventative maintenance on X'trapolis rolling stock following structured examination data sheets, each examination was different depending on the amount of kilometres the train had done, which included inspection of braking systems, air systems, bogies, couplers and various other tasks.
• Attending various stabling yards to fix faults on the trains as they appeared after they were reported by the train drivers, this included fault finding.
• Attending emergency breakdowns or various other incidents where a train consist is blocking the railway lines, working as quickly and as safely as possible to find problems with the train so that rail operations can continue.
• Driving trains in and out of the workshop as required for exams or fault finding, I have a Certificate 3 in terminal train driving that allowed me to do this task.
• Bogie overhauls, which involved removal of bogies from trains, replacing various parts such as suspension, couplings, springs and replacing worn or damaged fastenings.

Performed windscreen removal and refitting on cars, busses and trucks and also cut glass to fit on fork lifts, cranes and excavation equipment.

Performed removal and refitting of windscreens and door glass on cars, busses and also cut laminated glass for fork lifts and cranes.

I worked on various building sites all over the UK and also travelled to Germany and Holland to work on the building sites there.

The work involved construction of aluminium glazing systems and also glazing, use of EWP machinery was common in this field of work and also working at heights.
