Skipper of a 18m costal craft (planing hull) based out of Nubeena Tasmania with one crew with a feed hopper holding 4.5 tons of salmon feed.

Tasks include

- Daly startup checks

- loading feed on of a morning and again at midday depending on the amount of feed going out on the day.

-steam vessel from the Nubeena base to the west of wedge lease in storm bay of a morning and midday then back to the Nubeena wharf of a night.

-inspections of safety gear on board to ensure it’s in date and working properly.

-maintenance on vessel and machinery when necessary.

-fuel management to ensure there is enough fuel on board and refuel when necessary.

-Communicate with the land based feed centre for Daly start up of the feed hopper and for the pipe position and setup for the day.

Worked as the engineer on the 36m Matthew flinders 4 freight vessel travelling weekly from Bridport to flinders island loaded with 20ft shipping containers, livestock, fuel tankers, cars, trucks and passengers.

-pre departure engine room checks.

-assist with loading the vessel and chaining freight down.

-fuel management refuelling the vessel.

-regular engine maintenance, oil and oil filter changes, fuel filter changes, grease steering gear and troubleshooting and problems

We started taking over 2 towing vessels working at Tassal based out of Dover Tasmania in July of 2014 and then over 9 years built the business up to 4 vessel and 10 crew working as a contractor for Tassal and also doing jobs for insurance companies and emergencies tows for vessels in destress or after break downs.

-managing weekly plans with Tassal and daily changes to the plan.

-managing vessel crews with daily and weekly plans

-regular maintenance on all vessels
