Leading Hand Carpenter - Shaw Custom Carpentry 11/2020-current (completed apprenticeship 03/2023)

As a leading hand carpenter I have been involved in all aspects of carpentry and the building process of high end residential builds and renovations.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities

• Read and interpret architectural and structural plans and drawings
• Manage a team of qualified carpenters and apprentices
• Liaising with builders, project managers, other trades, architects, and clients to ensure jobs are running smoothly and efficiently
• Working alongside other trades
• Use a wide range of power tools, hand tools and specialty woodworking tools to carry out tasks
• Site set out for subfloor and slab applications
• Concrete formwork, pouring slabs, foundations and footings
• Constructing subfloors, walls, ceilings, roof frames (pitched and trusses)
• Installing windows, window trims and flashings
• Build and install door frames, doors and door hardware (including fire doors)
• Internal lock up and fix carpentry
• External cladding
• Construct and dismantle scaffolding
• Operate elevated work platforms up to 11 meters

• Assist qualified carpenters with day to day tasks and projects including:

- Construct wall frames, ceilings and roof frames

- Lock up and fix carpentry

- External cladding and decking

• Use a wide range out power tools, hand tools, and specialty woodworking tools
• Maintaining a clean and safe worksite

• General Gardening duties

- Mowing lawns

- Hedge trimming

- Garden maintenance

- Turf laying

- Irrigation installation

- Landscape construction
