David Yeeting

Responsible for the management and implementation of project activities in three (3) selected sites in Kiribati. Some of the key functions include;

• Secretary role in project steering committee (PSC) and facilitate organization of project management committee (PMC) and other site-specific and project-related meetings;
• Reporting on project funds and related record keeping as per the annual work plan (AWP) and develop monitoring and reporting of activities and budgets;
• Coordinate the work of all project sites, including contractual agreements e.g. Letters of agreement with project partners;
• Prepare progress and financial reports and ensure timely submission to GEF/FAO and maintaining effective communication with the relevant authorities, institutions and government departments through conducting trainings, workshops, brainstorm, working group meetings and in developing awareness material and reports;
• Provide technical advice to project partners in the development and implementation of the integrated marine and land management plans;
• Prepare and oversee the development of Terms of Reference for Project consultants and experts, as and when required including recruitment and supervising them;
• Prepare brief monthly updates on the project progress and draft project interim and final technical reports as required on activities undertaken, lessons learned and points for withdrawal mechanism.

• Responsible for the day-to-day management, co-ordination and supervision of the implementation of the project with heads of technical expert groups and range of institutions and agencies including UNEP, IPCC, UNFCCC Secretariat and GEF
• Coordinate negotiations on co-operation with Government and financing institutions in order to identify and mobilize sources for follow-up activities.

• Consult and organize awareness with communities around Choiseul Province to develop a long term management plan for the conservation of marine resources
• Assist and train villagers on fisheries resources conservation and fishing operations
• Deploy Fish Aggregating Devices and develop a management plan for it and monitor the use of FADs by carrying out CPUE survey on fish harvest
• Carry out reef checks and do clam and mangrove replanting in project sites
• Engage with SPC youth @ work activities and provide advice and training
• Provide technical advice of fisheries management issues to CHICCHAP partners and the Provincial office.

• Engaged in Community based management work for the conservation of fisheries resources in the coral coast of Korolevu and carry out activities as training for capacity building of local villagers
• Monitoring and reef checks, coral planting, stock assessment, data entry and analysis and as well as scoring video assays of fish bites on 6 species of algae.

• Collecting fisheries data to assess and monitor the utilization and importance of marine resources in Tailevu Province of Fiji
• Data was used to support a bigger project that was undertaken by Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society of UK to establish a major management plan in the area
• Conducting interview questionnaires, CPUE survey on fishing harvest and types of gears used, utilizing UVC survey data and GIS and as well as analyzing data using the R program and Excel.

• Involved in a lot of fisheries related work experiences with the National Fisheries College and the University of Natural Resources and Environment in Papua New Guinea
• Awareness talks for community based management on marine resources conservation, stock assessment and data analysis, fisheries policy and development, fishing operations and gear construction, skills and maintenance, Navigation and ship handling, Safety of life at sea skills, Fish handling, Post harvest operations and aquaculture farm construction and management.

• Worked with the Policy and development section at the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Management in Solomon Islands as part of my 6 weeks industrial training program, where I learnt a lot about the basics of office work, fisheries policies and many more about compliance and enforcement related work for fisheries management
• Contributed to the draft introduction section of the Strategy for FADs in the Solomon Islands for the management of inshore fisheries and marine resources development.

• I carry out finance and accounting jobs, prepare payments and do payroll, responsible for banking the company's daily income, supervise sales man and do stock take of all the company's daily sales.

• I worked as a part time cashier for one the Chinese businessman in Honiara, Solomon Islands
• My responsibilities, include; supervising staff customer service and manage cash sales and daily income of the business and prepare payrolls of staff and carry out monthly banking transactions of the sales income with the Bank of the South Pacific (BSP) in Honiara.
