Factory Worker
- Manual Handling:
-Worked in a specialised heavy parcel facility regularly lifting parcels up to 20kg in a safe and orderly matter
- Manually inducted parcels onto the belt of the machine for people on the chutes to scan and sort to the parcels to their ULD destination
-Lifted scanned parcels on the chutes sorting them in the assigned ULDs (pallets)
-When dealing with fragile or heavy parcels such as wine or construction parcels extra precaution was taken such as asking workmate to help lift or putting the parcel on the belt slower
- Loading and unloading Trucks, trailers and containers:
-Would regularly load parcels onto the belt from trucks such as Amazon, Costco and Auspost trucks
-Unload parcels coming from the conveyor belt into truck and shipping containers in an orderly and neat matter
-Consistently used machinery that elevated platforms to safely stack parcels as well as unload parcel walls
-Any parcels that were too large or small for the belt was manually stored in ULDs taken to be manually loaded onto trucks
-When dealing with heavy parcels various techniques were employed to make it safer and easier such as creating a table on the middle of the platform and asking for help from your partner
- Use of warehouse equipment and machinery:
- Regularly would use pallet jacks to lift ULDs (pallets) to area outside of the workstation for forklift drivers to take to the dock
-Would assemble ULDs (pallets) to store and process parcels as well as dissemble ULDs for storage
-Operated scanners to scan barcodes to sort parcels to the correct destination
-Use the computing machinery to print out labels with the destination (e.g Brisbane, Queensland) for the forklift drivers to allocate it in the correct area of the dock
- Trained to operate the main operating machine on Manual Induction which controlled the belt
- Used tools such as hammers and zip ties to fix faulty/broken ULDs.
-Used tools such as tape to fix damaged parcels as well as using box cutters to dissemble empty boxes for storage
- Scanning and sorting parcels:
-Use the computing machinery to print out labels with the destination (e.g Brisbane, Queensland) for the forklift drivers to allocate it in the correct area of the dock
-Operated scanners to scan barcodes to sort parcels to the correct destination
-Regularly would use pallet jacks to lift ULDs (pallets) to area outside of the workstation for forklift drivers to take to the dock
- Repackaging damaged parcels
- Cleaned work areas and machines to maintain a safe and organized environment.
- Communicated effectively with team members regarding tasks and progress.
