Work History

Security Guard

Serco Limited
Dubai, UAE
04.2024 - Current
  • I work as part of a small contracted security team that provides security services to the Australian Defence Force at Al Minhad airbase near Dubai. My duties include visual identification, verification and tracking of persons and vehicular movement. Conducting periodic non-armed facility patrols of designated restricted areas, internal perimeters and buildings. And, frequent liaising with the Royal Australian Air Force and UAE Host Nation personnel.

Senior Project Officer

Northern Land Council
Darwin, NT
08.2019 - 04.2024
  • The Northern Land Council (NLC) is the largest Aboriginal organisation in Australia. It supports Traditional Owners and Native Title Holders across the Top End of the Northern Territory (NT).
  • I started as a Project Officer in the Sea Country (Fisheries) Team at NLC. In this role, I worked closely with First Nations leaders and Indigenous rangers in remote and politically sensitive locations to manage fisheries compliance on Aboriginal waters. I was also involved in complicated policy development and high-level negotiations with NT Government relating to the Blue Mud Bay High Court decision. From this, I developed strong project management experience and excellent communication skills, including detailed report writing, intercultural public speaking, and stakeholder engagement, including engagement with all levels of government and the private sector.
  • For example, I developed a comprehensive compliance strategy to mitigate chronic trespass issues around the Finniss River, southwest of Darwin. For this challenging project, I liaised with First Nations organisations and Australian government departments, NT water police and Kakadu rangers, maritime service providers and local businesses, to design and implement a series of fisheries compliance initiatives across the region. This included the design and installation of educational signage at boat ramps, and planning and executing covert Indigenous ranger patrols. In March 2023, this hard work led to the first successful prosecution for trespass on Aboriginal waters in NT legal history.
  • In April 2023, I was promoted to Senior Project Officer in the Resources and Energy Team at NLC. In this role, I liaised with mining and petroleum companies who applied for permission to conduct exploration on Aboriginal land. I was responsible for assessing these applications, and then working with anthropologists, lawyers, and regional logisticians to organise and facilitate on-country access meetings with Aboriginal land owner groups, as per Part 4 of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (NT) 1976. I also provided First Nations decision-makers with scientific information and supported them in their negotiations with the private sector.

Stakeholder Engagement Officer

Luke Gosling OAM (Member of Parliament)
Darwin, NT
11.2018 - 08.2020
  • I worked on the staff of Luke Gosling OAM MP (Federal Member for Solomon). In this role, I researched and tracked defence and economic development related projects across northern Australia, and provided Luke with project updates, as required. I also focused on Veteran Affairs, and planned several successful community events for local veterans and their families.

Officer Cadet

Australian Army Reserve
Sydney, NSW
08.2017 - 11.2018
  • I trained to become an Infantry Officer in the Regional Force Surveillance Units of the Australian Army Reserve. This involved intensive training to analyse information in stressful situations to create tactical plans to complete complex objectives. This requires a meticulous appreciation of every aspect of the environment and all stakeholders. From this, I received world-class training in tactical thinking, first aid, radio communications, land navigation, problem solving, and time and fatigue management.

Marine Aviation Data Specialist

United States Marine Corps
Yuma, Arizona
09.2012 - 07.2017
  • As a Marine Aviation Data Specialist in the 3rd Marine Air Wing, I worked with a small team to record and prioritize the repair and global transfer of intricate F402 Pegasus jet engines. For this role, I effectively managed complex aviation database systems and briefed command on the operational status of a variety of aviation assets, including dozens of fighter jets.
  • I deployed to the Bahrain in 2014-2015, as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. During this time achieved the rank of Sergeant. As a Non-Commissioned Officer, I developed genuine professional military experience and learnt a lot about human nature. I was personally awarded several times for training junior Marines in leadership, organisational doctrine, command strategies, and physical fitness. Our squadron was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation in 2016 for exceptionally high standards of compliance to US Navy regulations.
