Summary

I am a dedicated and hard-working station hand with extensive experience across various properties and livestock operations, including cattle, sheep, and goats. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong skill set through roles at Malden Grazing, Boanbirra Station, Greenoaks, Kindimulla, and various contracting positions. My responsibilities have included mustering, drafting, branding, fencing, welding, lick runs, water checks, and general station maintenance. I am also confident operating a range of machinery such as dozers, graders, tractors, and motorbikes, and I’m equally comfortable working independently or within a team.

Living and working in rural and remote areas has shaped my resilience, adaptability, and deep respect for the land. My upbringing in the bush has instilled in me a genuine appreciation for the agricultural lifestyle and a strong commitment to integrity and hard work. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with station managers and families, which has not only built my hands-on knowledge but also strengthened my leadership and communication skills.

I am now looking to take the next step in my career by moving into a management or overseer position. I’m eager to contribute my skills to a team that values dedication and innovation, and I’m highly motivated to continue learning—especially about sustainable land practices and modern agricultural techniques. With a strong foundation and a passion for the industry, I’m confident I can make a positive and lasting impact in any team I join while continuing to grow within this rewarding field.

Station Hand

Boanbirra Station Bollon - Jayson Larracy
10.2022 - 01.2023

During my time as a Station Hand at Boanbirra Station in Bollon, I took on a wide variety of roles, with no two days ever the same. I also gained valuable hands-on experience operating machinery such as dozers, graders, tractors, and motorbikes, supporting both livestock and land management tasks.

Living in a very remote and rural environment, I adapted quickly to the demands of station life and developed a strong level of independence and resilience. At Boanbirra, I worked both individually and as part of a team—some days alongside other station hands, and other days entirely on my own—requiring initiative, self-motivation, and reliability.

This experience strengthened my ability to work efficiently in isolated settings and deepened my practical knowledge of agricultural operations. My time at Boanbirra has made me confident in my ability to take on a wide range of tasks, whether working solo or within a crew.

I also helped with general property maintenance, including fencing, yard work, water runs, and other seasonal duties essential to the smooth running of the station.

Working in a tight-knit, family-run environment, I developed strong teamwork skills, adaptability, and a reliable work ethic. I was trusted to work both independently and under direction, depending on the task, and always aimed to support the needs of the property with care, efficiency, and respect for the animals and land.

This experience gave me a well-rounded understanding of goat production and station life, and strengthened my practical knowledge of working in a rural, hands-on setting.
