Cleaning, ironing, laundry and garden work. Many of my clients I came to know well after working for them for years. I left because I was getting back pain from years of bending forward and the physio suggested a career change.
I volunteered at Life Line at the Islington office where i did my training and worked the weekend night shift from 8pm to Midnight. It was a life changing experience and made me realise so many people just want to be heard, to not feel alone in their pain. I became a better listener with everyone in my life and know that healing begins when you feel safe enough to express it, when someone is willing to just listen and not give advice. To offer someone the chance to be seen and heard is a great way of supporting others.
I only left because i had a disturbing call from a male caller, he felt betrayed by his mother and hated women. This man turned his hatred towards me by threatening me. It was a scary experience that i couldn't move past.
