Engineers Without Borders Challenge 2024
Monash College Unit MCD-4530
My group was tasked with designing a low-resource desalination system to replace the existing energy-intensive Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems in Saibai Island in the Torres Strait Region.
• We proposed a vapor compression desalination system (VCD), which was more sustainable and
less energy intensive than the existing systems
• We provided the required calculations, CAD drawings of the system and built a model to present
to the stakeholders.
