Arrived in Australia in November and started with a domestic plumbing firm in NSW. Worked in houses, apartments and cafes. Most of the work had been underground drainage, rainwater down pipes, gutters, copper pipe work and solvent weld waste pipe work. Have been getting knowledge off pile sizes, fittings and different kind of systems such as gas water heaters. Worked doing maintenance in strada homes and doing renovations in cafes.
Worked for Irwin ME on a maintenance contract looking after schools, hospitals and government buildings back in Ireland. Various tasks included fault finding, carry out repairs on cold, hot water and central heating systems, replacing various valves and appliances such as thermostatic mixing valves, showers, rpz valves, traps, taps, water heaters, toilets, basins, sinks, copper pipe work, plastic waste pipework and iron pipe work etc. Used various pipe jointing methods such as crimping, soldering, solvent weld, threading and push fit etc. Worked with hand tools and power tools. Knowledge of health and safety and first aid trained. Good communication skills through interacting with public and filling out job sheet reports to illustrate what task have been carried out and rectified. Additionally carried out bigger jobs over the summer doing refurbs in schools. Worked with a squad of plumbers doing commercial plumbing on sites in the city of Belfast. New buildings including hospitals and schools. Worked under a foreman plumber and was given out various task everyday such as clipping out, installing threaded bar and uni strut, brackets, grinding, anchors, copper pipework, iron pipe work, 110mm soil stacks, solvent weld waste pipework, boiler houses, installing appliances, toilets, basins, showers, over head heaters, various valves, cylinders and connected them up.. Majority of the work was crimping, threading and solvent weld for connecting pipe work. Working with copper pipe work in sizes from 15mm to 67mm. Worked individually and in pairs to carry out work in commercial buildings. Work was mainly first and second fixing and at the end of the job would have to install and commission appliance ion accordance with the regulations.
Worked for a domestic plumbing company carrying out work in houses. A lot of the work was bathroom and kitchen renovations. Isolating water supply, disconnected and removing old plumbing appliances, repiping the copper and waste pipe, tracking and coring through walls and joists. Installing new toilets, basins, sinks, showers, radiators, baths, shower trays etc. All copper work was soldered using a blow torch and waste pipe was push fit ranging in sizes from 32mm to 110mm pvcu. We also had a maintenance contract replacing washers, taps, traps, wastes, shower valves, etc. Have good use of a pipe bender, hand tools, power tools and blow torch.
