Working at 0.8 EFT

I am currently on unpaid maternity leave due to return in May, however if successful with this job application I able to commence work immediately and will resign from current position.

Prior to starting maternity leave I completed 9 months of a 12 month transition to specialty practice course. I have successfully completed my theory and was working in a team leader position.

I was due to move up to resus however due to the Covid pandemic and being pregnant I was moved into the fast track clinic.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Receiving handover from paramedics and ensuring an in depth hand over is received by asking appropriate questions.
  • Completing in depth head to toe assessments on patient often prior to them being seen by medical staff to ensure patients safety and escalating concerns to help provide the best outcome for patients.
  • Completing observations, +/- IV insertions, ECG and ordering appropriate pathology to facilitate timely and appropriate care.
  • Delivered high level of quality care to diverse populations while overseeing patient admission based on acuity.
  • Worked in a team leader role.
  • Have worked as part if of the MET call team in the Emergency department setting.
  • Documented treatments delivered, medications and IVs administered, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
  • Advocating for patients and escalating concerns.
  • Building a appropriate professional rapport with patients and family members.
  • Educated patients and answered questions about health condition, prognosis, and treatment.
  • Administered medications via oral, IV, and intramuscular injections and monitored responses.

This role was a 6 month maternity leave position in which i was working 12-14 Hrs a week.

2 shift in private rooms and 1 shift work from home.

  • Ensure patient safety by conducting detailed pre operative phone calls to discuss patients past medical history, regular medications and specialists involved in care .
  • Provided patient education on pre and post operative issues.
  • Reviewed patient history to verify conditions and current medications.
  • Educated patients about prescribed medications'' proper use and potential side effects for increased adherence rates and safety measures taken into account.
  • Liaising with patients GP, care team and specialists to obtain medication instructions prior to surgery to ensure patient safety and to achieve the best health outcome for patient.
  • Conduct post operative phone call to provide education about analgesia prescribed on discharge and in depth assessment to assess if any signs or symptoms of infections.
  • Providing over the phone educations on monitoring for sign and symptoms of infections and what to do if any issues or concerns, E.g GP or local emergency department.
  • Providing a high level of patient-centered care by providing education, reassurance and escalating any issues in a timely manner.
  • Responded to patient requests with appropriate clinical and personal assistance.
  • Maintaining up to date and accurate documentation.
