I am a Naval Officer from the ADF, having extensive experience in emergency management and teamwork, showcased through leadership training and operational roles. I have learned many lessons on ethics, workplace behaviours and moral principles through my time in the RAN including my time at NEOC, on HMAS Adelaide and HMAS Stirling.
After completing my Year 12 education at Trinity College Perth, I commissioned into the RAN as a Naval Officer, and I started my New Entry Officers Course on January 22nd, 2024. This course greatly enhanced my leadership, teamwork, social, and public speaking skills. The course included 16 weeks of training, including 3 leadership challenges and many lectures on the ADF values and acceptable behaviors in the ADF. After completing this course on May 9th, 2024, I was then posted to HMAS Adelaide for work experience, where I spent six weeks learning the basics of my profession in the RAN. I also learned about many operational and technical principles while posted to this ship. After my posting to HMAS Adelaide, I was then posted back to Perth to HMAS Stirling to commence the Maritime Warfare Officers Course, where I learned the principles of ocean navigation, planning, and how to apply those principles in a real-world context. As of January 20th, I have been posted to ADFA to start the first year of my mechanical engineering degree, but I wish to transfer to UWA in semester 2 of this year.
