Work History
Team Leader - Bulky Waste
Blue Mountain City Council
Springwood
01.2008 - Current
I have worked with the Blue Mountain City Council in Waste Management, doing Kerbside Bulky Waste and Chipping services.
The jobs require working in a team environment and working within the communities of the Blue Mountains.
In 2013, the Bulky Waste/Chipping service changed to a booking service.
This requires good navigation skills to find the addresses of the houses that are on the run sheet listed each day.
In 2015, I took over as the lead driver in the bulky waste team, where I manage a crew of 3 to 5 people.
In 2019, I took the title of Team Leader of the bulk waste crew. It is my job to discuss with the team where we are going, conduct a safety check, and make sure my team is wearing the right PPE every morning before leaving the yard for our first job.
I am also requiring the induction of new workers around the council yard on how to operate the rear loader garbage truck.
During my time as team leader of bulk waste, my team has gone through a few new opportunities in recycling more, such as placing fridges in a flatbed truck, as well as e-waste and tires.
My team and I will also try to take any items that are still good to the waste reuse shed if they are in good condition.
With the new waste management rules always changing and updating from the government or EPA, it is my responsibility as team leader to lead my team in adapting to these new changes and challenges when they arise.
I have also learned to use computer skills for my job's requirements, such as managing emails, doing hazard/incident reports, conducting safety checks, performing truck checks, printing out the paperwork for the day, and lodging the completed paperwork at the end of the day.
While working for the council, I have done a number of other jobs as well, such as being a parks truck driver, emptying town and park/oval bins.
Deliver bins and repair bins for the local residents.
Picking up rubbish in the town.
Traffic control.
Help with other council workers in other sections with clearing footpaths, blocking drains, and trimming trees.
Operate a woodchipper.
Driving small tipper trucks, sometimes towing a wood chipper.

Ensured compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all team activities.
Delivery Driver
Blue Mountain Gazette
Springwood
01.1997 - 12.2001
Deliver the local Gazette paper to the local resident.
It was a group family job?
I used to walk around some neighborhood delivering the paper, but eventually did it by car. Where my mom drove the car, and I threw the paper out the window.
