My focus in all roles has been to maintain a client-centred, trauma informed, recovery oriented and culturally responsive approach. Cross-Cultural, Trauma-Informed Counselling - The provision of client-centred biopsychosocial assessment and short- and long-term recovery-oriented therapeutic counselling to adults, young people &children from refugee-related torture and trauma backgrounds. This also includes risk assessment, safety planning, consultation and facilitated referral to internal programs and external service providers.
Clinical Supervision – Provision of regular clinical supervision and debriefing to counsellors related to therapeutic interventions, crisis management, critical incidents, casework, cross-cultural practice, vicarious trauma and self-care.
Leadership and Management Skills–Organisational representation at networks meetings, performance review of team members, recruitment, staff orientation, workload allocation and individual and team strategic planning. Senior Management responsibilities included development and progression of clinical practice frameworks, research and policies, quality assurances processes and strategic planning.
Intake and Assessment – Assessment of children and young people with severe and complex mental health difficulties, including risk assessment, safety planning, carer/parent engagement, psychoeducation and referral.
Counselling and Therapeutic Intervention – Provision of counselling and case management to consumers and their carers/parents within the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
