Work History

Senior GIS Project Officer

West Gate Tunnel Project (MRPV)
08.2021 - Current
  • I am responsible for the GIS, spatial analysis, mapping, data management, preparing LEGL plans and Locality plans for the purpose of land acquisition.
  • My role is face-paced and high demanding as the tasks i am given are critical for the completions of the West Gate Tunnel Project.
  • Kept senior management well-informed by preparing and presenting project status reports.
  • Developed and deepened relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Identified and resolved project issues and mitigated risks, reducing challenges and improving project results.
  • Monitored deadlines and milestones to keep team on track with project schedule.
  • Establish and maintain information, data input and quality systems to efficiently manage delivery of the project.

Tasks

I have worked with the Planning & Environment team with the preparation for Project Area Amendments, ensuring that where works have been constructed outside the Project Area, we amend the Project Area Boundary and are then able to acquire the land for inclusion in the lease. With the project nearing completion, the preparation of ministerial briefs has become a major demand on the program and I have been working with the team to prepare the locality plans and LEGLs for each brief. With the large quantity of plans I have been self-checking and peer reviewing to ensure the quality and data is accurate.

The creation of LEGLs has become a critical task to assist with ministerial briefings and I have been relying on the program to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and deliver plans accordingly. I have found it essential to communicate with Surveyor General and DTP along with our internal Surveyors to assist with LEGL preparation and deliver high quality plans.

Senior Spatial Analyst

Department of Transport and Planning
08.2017 - 01.2021
  • My role required me to edit and maintain the Victorian Planning Scheme spatial dataset, which includes ensuring the integrity of the scheme through validation, topology checks and QA mechanisms.
  • I was heavily involved in a variety of spatial projects which assisted in various areas of the Planning group.
  • The project work I have been involved in has given me the opportunity to utilize a wide range of spatial technologies including FME, ArcGIS technologies and Geocortex.
  • I gained experience with responsibility to work on an enterprise database, dealing with key stakeholders and overseeing projects through to achieving successful outcomes.
  • Improved internal knowledge sharing by developing comprehensive documentation outlining standard operating procedures for various tasks.
  • Enhanced team collaboration by providing clear communication of complex findings through visualizations and reports.
  • Implemented predictive analytics techniques that enabled proactive adjustments to business strategies based on emerging trends.

Projects

Spatial Planning Scheme Management

Weekly alignment of the Planning Scheme with the cadaster datasets in order to ensure the integrity of the planning schemes. This involves technical skills such as the editing Planning Scheme Zones and Overlays using topology tools in ESRI’s ArcMap and the management of a spatial database system. This process ensures that weekly QA checks across the data are complete prior to staging up the data and publishing to the VSDL and related channels. The experience I have had with this work has allowed me to broaden my technical skills and in doing so has introduced me to software’s such as FME and FME server which allows certain processes to run automatically. This role has required me to work intimately with some of the Vicmap datasets such as Planning, Property and Address.

Radius and VicPlan Web Application Development

I was involved in the development and enhancement of the VicPlan and Radius web mapping applications. Using ArcGIS and Geocortex, I introduced new tools and datasets to enhance the applications based on workshops with the users and key stakeholders. I have presented to the Planning Senior Leadership Team on Radius which has led to further discussion and planning on enhancements to the application. An example of a recent enhancement was the publishing of the PPARS dataset to Radius and ensuring that the data was presented for the correct use. This required the usage of ArcMap, FME and ArcGIS Server.

Cooling and Greening Web Application and Analysis

This project involved data manipulation and mapping integration skills predominantly using ESRI’s ArcMap to complete this task. I was given a large and complex dataset to work with and it was important to ensure the purpose and integrity of the data was kept. I grouped the data into classes and created new layers to create a visual representation of the raw data.
The outcome of this project is an interactive map of heat and vegetation data which covers the city’s metropolitan areas, available to the public via the Plan Melbourne website.

Building Better Apartments Spatial Analysis and Mapping

This mapping task required that I complete a set of advanced spatial queries and cartographic maps. This allowed me to expand my knowledge and use multiple GIS software technologies to derive the queries for the data. I used FME to output the data and ArcMap to produce the maps. This project required me to work closely with the key stakeholders and allowed me to combine mapping and information systems to produce an elegant outcome and a suite of maps.

Planning Spatial Modernisation

I was involved in the transition within Planning from MapInfo to the ArcGIS Platform

This was known as the “IPSM Stage 1. Uplift from MapInfo file-based data to ESRI Geodatabase”. My role in this project included the editing of spatial data in a file-based MapInfo system and transition that to ArcGIS tools. The spatial data for the scheme was produced on a Local Government Authority (LGA) by LGA basis, which I worked heavily to ensure there were no gaps or overlays between each LGA, through the aligning process.
