Elliot Womersley

A key part of the United Workers Union's work is to provide legal representation and strategic advice to Union members and officials.

My key responsibilities as an Industrial Officer include:

• Representing the Union and members in the South Australian Employment Tribunal, Fair Work Commission and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
• Providing considered advice to members and union officials in the area of employment law.
• Interpreting industrial and legislative instruments and enforcement of the provisions.
• Managing a caseload which includes: unfair dismissal, general protection, workers compensation and underpayments of wage claims.
• Participating in enterprise bargaining negotiations and ensuring compliance with all steps of the bargaining process.

I performed the role of Member Rights Officer for a period of 2.5 years.

My key responsibilities were to:

• Provide industrial advice to members on a range of matters relating to their employment.
• Support members in making grievances, enforcing employment entitlements, and responding to performance and disciplinary conduct matters.
• Represent members and the Union in collective and individual meetings.
