Tradesmen Fitter Machinist
Progress Rail, Kooragang, NSW
employed at the progress rail facility, Kooragang, as a tradesmen fitter machinist. In this role I am required to to carry out both major mechanical and minor Electrical repairs. these tasks are:
- Undertake scheduled servicing on 81, 82, 90, and TT class locomotives
- Undertake scheduled component change outs in CCO and ICC programs
- Live DIesel engine diagnoses and repair, Replacing major Emd Equipment such as Engines, Turbos, Camshafts, Power assemblies.
- Repair and replace Generalized locomotive Equipment, such as carbody and bogie equipment where required i.e. compressors, draft gear, Traction motors.
- Perform minor Electrical troubleshooting and component replacement.
- Perform on the go maintenance and repairs within a live running environment at customer facilities and infield work.
- Fault find and repair, pneumatic brake circuits, these include Fastbrakeand 30cw.
- Operate rolling stock withing the confines of the working yard where required.
- Read and identify parts and dimensions from technical drawings and service manuals.
- Complete appropriate recordings of maintenance repairs.
Employment at the Cardiff rail facility in the 5000/6000 class overhaul program consisted of the following work tasks
Prior to my commencement withing the 5000/6000 class overhaul i worked at the progress rail cardiff facility in the Traction motor Overhaul shop, the following tasks were completed.
2nd-4th year apprentice fitter machinist completed at the Downer rail (progress rail) facility at Kooragang. my duties completed are,
Downer Rail School based traineeship completed between year 10 and year 12 at high School.
