Took a holiday in Japan to enjoy our time off work.

The rest of the time has been because of a delay in getting my AHPRA registration.

• I worked in the surgical ward, high dependency unit, and the day surgery unit, completing both admissions and discharges.
• I continuously assessed the patients' conditions including looking up lab results and liaising with physios, updating the surgeons and anaesthetists on any concerns promptly.
• Provided post-op care to a variety of patients, including orthopaedic, bariatric, gynaecology, general surgical, ENT, and paediatrics.
• Provided patients with education focusing on self-management, mobilisation, and wound care, including discharge information to go home with.
• Trained and mentored new RNs and RN students on best practices, Southern Cross hospital policies, and standards of care.
• Utilised venepuncture and CVAD skills.
• Member of a 'Positive Change' focus group, as well as the social committee. Completed a five week Te Reo and Tikanga Course.

• Incorporated cultural diversity into all aspects of patient assessment and care.
• Cared for a variety of patients, including medical (diabetes, cancer, general medical), surgical (orthopaedics, general surgical), palliative (including caring for and washing once passed), and mental health patients.
• Prioritised heavy workloads according to urgency levels, and ensured tasks were done in a timely manner.

• Spent the majority of my time on the gynaecology ward (medical and surgical); however, I also got to orientate in colposcopy, the gynae assessment unit (GAU), and the gynae procedure unit, providing care pre-, post-, and during termination procedures.
• Treated patients suffering from chronic and acute medical concerns, including miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy, heavy bleeding, chronic pain conditions, gynecological oncology surgical patients, as well as general medical and surgical overflow patients.
• Collaborated and communicated with the MDT, including social workers, physios, medical specialists, dieticians, and clinical nurse specialists, to improve patient outcomes.
• Helped patients and families feel comfortable during challenging, undignified, and stressful situations, having received multiple written compliments regarding this.
