· Task and supervise team members in relation to crime scene response and specific duties relating to major crime scenes and exhibits to support investigations.

· Monitor the accurate collation, recording, identification and dissemination of forensic evidence to key stakeholders.

· Assist with training and development of personnel, ensuring quality and standards are maintained.

· Liaise with coordinators/ zone managers regarding the implementation of administrative and operational plans, strategies, programs and procedures.

· Supervise and participate in the preparation of expert certificates and the preparation of expert opinion evidence in criminal proceedings, inquests and other judicial inquiries.

· Maintain knowledge of relevant principles, equipment, procedures, legislation, policies, accreditation, requirements, and standard techniques used in the recovery, examination, analysis and interpretation of forensic evidence.

· Allocate jobs for the state (metro and country), ensuring timely attendance, the utilisation of appropriate resources and managing fatigue.

· Attend, process and record crime scenes.

· Examine exhibit in a laboratory setting.

· Prepare and present Expert documents/statements/evidentiary materials for Local, District, Supreme, Children’s and Coroner’s Court.

· Ensure onboarding/orientation programs are adequate and delivered to new employees.

· Create training programs to upskill and address skill gaps in existing employees.

· Evaluate employee performance and provide support through further training and mentorship to ensure high standards.

· Facilitate and assess on internal courses for crime scene investigators (statewide).

· Prepare and deliver learning materials for stakeholders - general duties police, detectives and external agencies.

· Assess effectiveness of all programs and make improvements where required.

· Ensure training records are maintained.

· Attend, process and record crime scenes.

· Examine exhibit in a laboratory setting.

· Prepare and present Expert documents/statements/evidentiary materials for Local, District, Supreme, Children’s and Coroner’s Court.

· Attend and process crime scenes associated with major crime investigations utilising a variety of techniques and equipment in accordance with SOPs.

· Record crime scenes by way of notes, sketches, photographs and exhibit collection.

· Complete exhibit examinations within the laboratory setting.

· Minimize contamination risks at active crime scenes/exhibit examinations through adherence to stringent safety protocols.

· Prepare and present documents/statements/evidentiary materials for Local, District, Supreme, Children’s and Coroner’s Court.

· Assist with the training of junior staff.

· Ensuring adherence to case management protocols.

· Prepared case reports from allegations, transcripts of interviews and physical evidence.

· Produce written intelligence products which inform and support tactical, operational and strategic decision making.

· Develop and maintain effective professional and relationships with key stakeholders.

· Provide intelligence briefings, presentations and meetings to influence decision making and inform stakeholders.

· Collect, identify and assess information to produce intelligence.

· Analyse information to identify emerging trends and issues for the development of intelligence reporting.

· Covert monitoring of targets in the field for the purpose of obtaining or for the verification of intelligence information.
