1 Supports strategic direction 4 Displays personal drive and integrity

As a teacher, it is extremely important to guide all teaching practices from the schools' Annual Implementation Plan As a school, it is imperative for all teachers to have the same educational focus in order to improve student outcomes and to ensure all staff members are working towards the same goal In my teaching roles I have found myself to be facilitating, modelling and engaging in professional discussions with colleagues and administration staff around working towards achieving these goals and improving student outcomes Strategic positions and responsibilities have included:

Year level coordinator of 4 other classes, where I facilitated the planning & design of work units with aligned assessment tasks as well as ensuring tasks were moderated across the level;

Team leader, where I collaboratively worked with 12 other teachers in the Early Years precinct, planning & designing units of work as per Implementation Plan & entering these onto OneSchool;

Curriculum Coordinator for a term, where I was responsible for organising & overseeing curriculum content, planning & assessment P-7, as well as assisting teachers in planning & entering unit plans & data onto OneSchool and working collaboratively with administration staff;

Mentor, Language Coach & Learning Support Teacher where I have been assisting classroom teachers with their planning and assessment tasks, utilising PD in Explicit Teaching & BIDBIJI to further support achieving goals as per School Implementation Plan

  • I have also participated in analysing data from reading records across the school in order to graph trends & project required future strategic emphases to support the school's focus on reading improvement as per Annual Operation Plan As a member of the school's curriculum committee, I have been able to be involved in the preparation process of both the spelling and maths scope & sequence documents provided for teachers at this school

2 Achieves success

As a teacher I feel I have consistently worked towards demonstrating I am an excellent teacher who influences others with my knowledge, expertise and ability to inspire I believe that quality teaching and quality learning are the goals I must strive to attain, within our teaching staff Through my teaching, mentoring and Language coach roles I have successfully achieved the following goals:

Collaborating with administration staff and implementing and setting goals to achieve improved and quality learning outcomes for students

As a team leader in Early Childhood, focusing on curriculum intent, explicit teaching and achieving quality results and curriculum implementation including unit planning for year levels as well as differentiating for students including EAL/D students, utilising the Break-lt Down Build-lt-Up approach to teaching English language

I have been involved in numerous curriculum audits ensuring our planning and assessment adheres to Education Queensland policies and covers all Learning Areas I was curriculum coordinator throughout one audit and worked collaboratively alongside our administration in ensuring all curriculum areas were audit compliant in our local drive along with uploading it onto OneSchool and ensuring all of the staff were aware of curriculum expectations

  • Across school settings, I have been collaboratively working alongside administration staff and teachers to ensure that classroom behaviour management strategies and processes are followed, resulting in a reduction of behavioural referrals

At Kowanyama, I have been working collaboratively with, facilitating PD & professional conversations, modelling for and working alongside teachers in the explicit unpacking of English language Through this process, student results in writing have improved dramatically along with their ability to participate in the tasks having been explicitly taught the language and gaining the confidence to write This is evident in our NAPLAN results and Pat Reading results

I feel that I am not just a team player, but a leader I have gone beyond 'capacity' to show curriculum in planning and energising colleagues through understanding their needs, progress and development I believe I lead through my positive, optimistic outlook of what will benefit every student, everyday and modelling high expectations The length of time I have spent in Kowanyama has helped build relationships with students and my work as Relief Teacher means that I have been

able to work in classes across the school and have become familiar with routines and confident about demanding high expectations

3 Supports productive working relationships

As a mentor teacher it is imperative to display strong interpersonal relationships I feel I have a respectful relationship with staff and a strong rapport with students, parents and the wider community I continue and withhold strong interpersonal relationships by:

  • Collaboratively working with the SWD teacher and my co-language coach to ensure differentiation occurs in all classrooms
  • Working closely with experienced and three beginning teachers in a remote area to support and mentor them emotionally and professionally
  • Working closely with these teachers by assisting them with their planning through facilitating and offering support and advice to ensure quality outcomes for all students In order for this to be achieved weekly planning meetings are set aside for professional discussions and mentoring of curriculum implementation
  • Assisting by modelling and offering in-class support on how a goal can be achieved, when a teacher expresses their concern in reaching a student outcome;
  • Collaboratively working alongside another teacher to bring the community into the school as reading volunteers and in so doing, offering many information sessions;
  • Encouraging parent helpers into the classroom by offering parent reading sessions on many occasions and ensuring they were comfortable reading with students and by following up with additional sessions on how to get quality reading from their child
  • Consistently demonstrating that learning occurs well beyond the classroom by collaborating with colleagues to design real world learning activities to engage students
  • Communicating openly and having a strong rapport with colleagues, students' parents and the wider community which I feel contributes effectively to achieving the common goal, which is to improve student outcomes
  • Working with explicit teaching coaches to implement regional expectation within the school

Being a year level leader and a mentor I feel I have proven my ability to manage staff well by establishing a team environment where each staff member feels valued and respected On many occasions professional discussions took place where all staff felt as though their opinions, needs and strengths were valued I have demonstrated my ability to display personal drive and integrity by:

Ensuring all staff members feel valued and respected;

Providing all staff with support and resources for them to complete their jobs; If they need any particular resources I go out of my way to ensure they have them & draw on my previous experience and related Professional Development

As a team leader I was given the opportunity to demonstrate my ability to handle financial organisational outcomes as I was held responsible for handling year level finances These finances had to be spent judiciously as I was given a set amount to negotiate with teachers about the purchase of year level resources, including student stationery requirements & teacher resources to assist in the delivery of high quality outcomes
