  • Education: To provide foundational education and ongoing support to student midwives and new graduates as they transition from theory to practice. Incorporate simulation and hands on learning in the clinical field to bridge the gap between academic learning and clinical skills. With a focus on practical skill development, clinical reasoning skills, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Clinical mentorship: To foster the development of competent and confident midwives by providing practical guidance and emotional support in the clinical environment. Promote reflective practice and ensuring they receive feedback and constructive advice to build confidence. Facilitate debriefing sessions after challenging or complex cases to discuss what went well and areas for development.
  • Clinical practice: To ensure that students and graduate midwives engage in evidence-based practice and are practicing at the required level for their course or for their stage in their career. Ensuring this is occurring by completing relevant assessments that have been stipulated by the universities or by the hospital for the graduate midwives.   • This role included working along side a close team of midwives to provide care to low-risk women who require antenatal care, labour and birth care, post natal care and domicilary.
  • Assisted with care for expectant mothers from beginning to end of term, including completing antenatal appointments, examining ultrasounds, chasing results and educating parents on what to expect in next stages of pregnancy and beyond.
  • Coordinated care of low and high-risk laboring women and immediate stabilization of newborn following delivery. Including spontaneous onset of labour and induction of labour.
  • Interpreting CTG monitoring on antenatal patients and laboring women.
  • Provided adequate pain relief both pharmacological and non-pharmacological options to women who during labour and birth.
  • Completed comprehensive assessment of patient and family on the post-natal ward and able to identify outcomes, establish care plans, monitor progress and modify care plan as needed. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assisted new mothers with breastfeeding techniques, postpartum self-care and infant care to promote easier transition into motherhood.
