Responsible and reliable young person seeking an ongoing position, in order to learn new skills and progress within the workforce.
In my 20 months with Appleton Cattle Company, my skills in not only agriculture and all aspects of livestock work, but also my leadership and people skills grew tremendously. I learned how to effectively and efficiently organise a small group of employees and administrate tasks to carry out each day. Through this, I also learned effective communication with these people and improved my organisation and time management skills, as well as a great ability to work as part of a team.
In my short time at Graincorp, I worked in the sample stand, weighbridge and train loading. I once again, learned many valuable and life long skills. These include:
- Communication skills when speaking and instructing truck drivers.
- Organisation skills when deciding where to send particular trucks.
- Time management skills at the busiest times of the harvest season.
In my time at The Railway Hotel, I gained and put into practice each day, a multitude of skills. These include:
- Customer service and people skills.
- Effective communication skills between both colleagues, as well as customers.
- Technological skills using tills and the computer when closing the pub for the night.
- Cash handling and transactions.
- Skills regarding the responsible service of alcohol and gaming, including the ability to deny service if needed.
- Time management and organisational skills in a leadership role.
