Work History

HSIE RFF Teacher,

St Benedict's Catholic School
01.2024 - Current
  • Adapted content and pedagogy for K-6 with explicit learning intentions, success criteria and differentiated activities to scaffold learning and a safe learning environment for all students, based on my professional development targets.
  • Redesigned all HSIE units and assessments with current school focus of Catholic Learnings.
  • Collaborated with whole school in teaching RFF, building connections with staff and school community to aid in student growth of educational outcomes through the HSIE syllabus.
  • Utilised a trauma informed practice framework, by creating opportunities in the classroom for students to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment. This was accomplished by developing strong teacher-student relationships, giving outcome linked feedback and offering a choice in the curriculum/ timetable.

Crisis Supporter

Lifeline Australia
08.2023 - Current
  • Provided one-off crisis support over the phone to people who could benefit from immediate and short-term assistance to cope with crisis or distress.
  • I used dedicated empathetic listening and 'comfort sitting' techniques to talk with vulnerable and distressed help seekers’ from a variety of situations such as child protection, domestic violence, third party suicide and mental health diagnoses.
  • Implemented the crisis support training of the CARE framework, focusing on empowering and creating safety plans with help seekers, using strength-based approaches.

Support Worker

Big Brown House
12.2022 - 02.2024
  • Supervised and ensured the safety and welfare of young children while in emergency and out of home care.
  • Managed challenging situations with a positive attitude and minimal supervision, needing to apply policy, procedure and legislative requirements.
  • Developed a strong sense of mutual respect based on an open dialogue of interests, expectations, and outcomes in a high-risk environment.
  • Assisted the children or young people in maintaining positive relationships with their parent or family members in a safe, secure environment free of conflict.
  • Mentored young people to build on their current skills and resilience by empowering them to participate in targeted activities such as: education, sport, health and art.
  • Made accurate and detailed observations and records of the young person’s life and their daily interactions in a timely manner.
  • Received and utilised Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Cultural Competency training.

Yr 6 Teacher

Tanilba Bay Primary School
01.2022 - 04.2023
  • Employed inclusive practices for all students, specifically for the many students from low SES and First Nations families by: having high expectations, implementing the 8 Ways pedagogy into programs, communicating effectively with families and providing effective feedback built on individualised goals.
  • Developed a sound rapport with students, staff, parents and the wider community. This allowed me to successfully implement behaviour strategies and cultivate safe environments for students, guided by the school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning model. I utilised a strength-based approach, understanding the dynamic nature of learning, and how everyone has the potential to learn from their peers and gain new skills.
  • Participated in team oriented teaching through meeting daily, sharing resources, co-programming, peer mentoring, imparting key points from Professional Development and reflecting on teaching practices.
  • Collaborated on the Numeracy Team, providing for the whole school: resources, mentoring, programs and direction with the new K-2 curriculum.
  • Co-ordinated sport carnivals and gala days by: applying for/receiving grants, liaising with parents, timetabling, directing staff, completing risk assessments and booking fields and transport providers.
  • Compiled attendance reports; monitored absenteeism and provided information to teachers and administrators regarding student attendance.

Year 6 Teacher

St Patrick's Primary School
01.2021 - 12.2021
  • Built on my students’ strengths and interests to design lessons that fostered their willingness to learn.
  • Created positive, stimulating spaces where students felt safe and ready to learn. I used a growth mindset approach, where all students felt heard and accepted that they could make mistakes on their journey to success.
  • Team taught through: sharing resources, co-programming, peer mentoring, reflecting on pedagogy and having shared targeted goals.
  • Applied new curriculum structure of ‘Clarity’, utilising shared knowledge, equity, and expertise, by using data to inform differentiation (tasks, intervention, and assessment) and practice through data walls centred on an objective.
  • Created and supported the ‘Green Society’, building on students’ skills to build a sustainable school, liaising with Maitland council and local business owners.
