Management of patients/cadets residing in the barracks
Provision of nursing care to cadets (patients)
Obtaining and Monitoring of vital signs and this includes Blood Pressure, Heart rare, Respiratory rate, Temperature and O2 saturation
Providing nursing care and first aid treatments for patients/cadets during their rigorous exercises
Administration of medications to patients/cadets
Provision of optimum care to patients and cadets (continence care, pressure area care, oral care, and assistance with mobility)
Maintaining contemporary professional knowledge and skills in clinical competency through participation in self development activities/programs
Attending to wound care and maintaining aseptic technique before, during and after the wound care
Liaising with other members of the health team, to identify patient care needs, plan interventions and review outcomes of care
Complying with policies and procedures of the facility
Attending community health outreach programmes and health checks
Setting up of daily emergency supplies with other staff upon resumption of duty (pre-pack dressing materials, IV fluids, medications, etc)
Documentation of care rendered to patients in the progress note
Checking all the equipment e.g., vital signs machine, oxygen tubes and valves, checking emergency stock using the check list, reporting any shortage to my supervisor/matron and documenting
Liaising with the supervisor, doctors, and other members of the health team about the health condition of any patient/cadet who needs referral or transfer for specialist care
Creating, evaluating, and updating of patient’s care plans as their health conditions changes.
