I am a dedicated worker who thrives in jobs that allow allow me to acquire knowledge, maintain mental engagement and keep physically active. My extensive and diverse work experience has seen me succeed in high pressure and physically demanding environments, whilst maintaining my attention to detail and making quick and accurate decisions. In addition to this, my elite refereeing commitments have provided me with the skillset to effectively communicate and maintain conversant with rules and procedures. Balancing several work commitments and elite sporting has required determination, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills and has led me to be as a recognised hard worker, who maintains exemplar work standards, meet strict deadlines, and exceed expectations.
During my role at Control and Electric as an apprentice electrician, I grasped every opportunity to learn various aspects of the trade to increase my skillset and demonstrate my ability to work in a variety of areas whilst adapting to numerous leadership styles. My core responsibilities were the installation of mechanical services and electrical systems associated with building management services, assisting in mechanical switchboard manufacturing and the analysis and interpretation of site drawings; all whilst learning and enforcing the intricate rules and legislation across the trade.
In 2010, I began refereeing basketball for Basketball ACT and quickly demonstrated my ability to communicate with influence effectively and consistently on players, coaches, and parents. In 2018, I achieved the role of supervisor and was recognised as possessing the skills equivalent to a high-performance coach. A large component of this role was to mentor and accompany junior officials on interstate representative trips, coordinate schedules and manage important events, such as facilitating training programs, awards ceremonies, and educational seminars, all whilst creating and piloting a program dedicated to young officials striving to represent the state in basketball officiating.
My commitment to basketball refereeing has rewarded me with numerous opportunities. I have been nominated to represent the ACT as a referee in several interstate competitions and tournaments throughout Australia which resulted in me being selected for the National Referee Development Program. This program requires dedication, excellent communication skills, and maintaining strong physical fitness and work ethic, as it requires me to work alongside officials across the country to develop my skills and improve my knowledge with the aim of excelling further in officiating. My career with basketball has aided me in the development of various skills, including the ability to diffuse situations with coaches and players, achieve accuracy amongst calling rates through continuous learning, self-evaluation and reflection, excel at physical fitness testing to perform at all levels of competition, and work in a team environment whether it be partners or groups.
In 2022, I completed my studies and became a qualified cabinet maker and managed my own business focused initially on residential work. Through this work, I managed invoicing, purchasing stock, and coordinating and paying other subcontractors. As I did this role in addition to full-time employment, I utilised my excellent time management skills to ensure I was doing all of my work efficiently, accurately and to a high standard. I required strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as a large component of my role was liaising with clients and external organisations. I also accrued knowledge in using software platforms, including, Microsoft Office, AUTOCAD, and ZOHO invoicing.
My role at Mackillop College enabled me to learn about an area I was initially unfamiliar with whilst also improving my understanding of new technology such as 3D printers, drones, and laser cutters. After increasing my skillset in STEAM, my role saw me being a primary contact for liaising with teaching staff and assisting students, maintaining stock and servicing of machinery, as well as assisting with the maintenance and construction of large-scale projects for student use.
My role at Communities@Work involved liaison with executive staff in various areas including Corporate Communications, IT, and maintenance. I was required to manage events and fundraisers externally and internally, professionally and effectively communicate with stakeholders and government representatives, manage and maintain ICT equipment throughout the organisation in over thirty locations and prioritise maintenance throughout the organisation’s various centres and facilities.
