Senior Project Manager

Tripoly Environmental Engineering
, Malaysia
06.2004 - 07.2020
  • Involved in more than 20 small to large scale Water, Sewage and Industrial Wastewater Treatment projects in Malaysia.
  • The types of projects I delivered on were:
  • 1) Potable Water Treatment Plants from either treated effluent or surface water.
  • 2) Demineralisation Water Treatment Plants for boilers, used in energy generation.
  • 3) Sewage Treatment Plants: Activated sludge plants (Conventional, Extended Aeration, SBR, Trickling Filters). Largest sewage treatment plant project handled was a 45,000 m3/day Unifed SBR plant.
  • 4) Sewage Pumping Stations (Dry Well and Wet Well).
  • 5) Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plants (Chemical and Biological) for low to high strength wastewater covering a range of industries from food processing, rubber, palm oil, plastics recycling to leachate.
  • Other Environmental Engineering related projects managed were:
  • 1) Air Pollution Control scrubbers (Wet and Dry) for medical sterilisation companies (BBraun) to odour scrubbers for major housing developers.
  • 2) Water/Wastewater Ancillary Infrastructure and Fabrication Projects. Installation of gravity sewer lines (open trench, pipe jacking) and pumping mains (HDPE, ductile iron, cast iron, stainless steel) ranging from 5 to 1500 m in length and fabrication of fibreglass/steel tanks, screens and pressure vessels.
  • 3) OHSE. Oversaw more than 3 major HAZOPS Studies on upgrading existing operational Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants.
  • I am also well versed in the Process Design of Treatment Plants. I have designed various types of activated sludge treatment plants for sewage and industrial wastewater applications.
  • 1) Was responsible for the Selection/Sizing of the various M&E equipment in the Process & Instrumentation Diagram.
  • 2) Designed the Plumbing Systems in treatment plants (gravity flow lines (for pipes and, open channels), pressurised mains).
  • 3) Process Reviews and Troubleshooting Consultancy work on an ad hoc basis for many types of industries.
  • The nature of my work also required me to Liaise With Authorities (local government and the EPA). Scope of duties involved were:
  • 1) Produced Status Reports for water, sewage authorities and local EPA.
  • 2) Managed Inspection Activities and reports for said authorities/EPA.

Strategic Wastewater Systems Planner

South East Water
, Australia
09.2016 - 09.2019
  • As a wastewater strategic planner, I worked with analysts from the waste strategy group to study trends and identify strategies where South East Water can optimise their wastewater treatment management.
  • The types of projects I worked on were:
  • 1) Risk assessment study of trace contaminants (mainly PFAS) in South East Water’s biosolids and their suitability for reuse in land application.
  • 2) Trade waste mapping of South East Water’s trade waste customers. One of the aims of this study was to find the “substance(s)” that is inhibiting nitrification at Melbourne Water’s Eastern Treatment Plant.
  • 3) Catchment study of wastewater flow into Melbourne Water’s ETP. During severe wet weather conditions (98th percentile flows) the flow to ETP increases substantially. The study was to identify ways to mitigate peak flows from South East Water’s sewer catchments that flow into the ETP.
