I am currently transitioning into moving back home to New Zealand with my family as that is where we have decided we want to raise and educate our kids.
After hearing information from friends and whanau I Decided to move across the ditch to Australia and have a crack at the Australian trade industry’s economy. My time here has been awesome and the experience for me has been next to none. In my first 2 months I networked with other carpenters on site and labour hire companies who became exclusive clientele who gave me my prosperous working opportunities that allowed me to become a small business owner and Trade solely as an independent contract carpenter.
Here I have had 4 Employed qualified sub contract Builders and together we have worked all over the Gold Coast and Brisbane areas polishing big residential building contracts and recently took on a probation time period commercial cladding contract.
I completed my carpentry apprenticeship for Madden construction builders. Madden construction dominates the residential market in Hawke's bay for their lucrative cliental and high end architecturally designed house and renovation builds. I am well educated in all aspects of carpentry building from foundation and formwork set out to standing frames, roof framing trusses, wall linings, fit outs and finishings, installing doors, fencing decking and extensions.
This job kept me well focused and organised. I always kept the crew well moraled with high spirits and always was keen to get stuck in and work hard.
During my time back in Gisborne I learned an array of construction duties that included civil road works and driving road works machinery and commercial building. I also completed 6 small beach batch Homes on my whanau trust land for our Papa kainga in Anaura Bay.
developed a work ethic on site, recording all records of learning and completing all apprenticeship homework and exams.
learning all types or roles, mastering basics and learning to use all power tools on site. implementing health and safety procedures, climbing through the ranks starting as a labourer and eventually a qualified carpenter 4 years later.
Working Part time here whilst at high school eventually turned into full time employment I gained knowledge working in the stock yard, lamb and beef boning room and slaughter board as a knife hand
