My responsibilities included:

• Providing medical services to the patients of all age groups in the community.
• Assessing the patients in ED as per triage basis and providing quick management in cases of trauma alerts, stroke calls and resuscitation alerts being an active part of the team and following the instructions of Consultant/Team leader.
• Assessing and evaluating patients with acute clinical problems, for example, MI, Falls, Stroke, Patients with Mental Health disorders, Snake and Spider bite, Peri-anal abscess, Concussion, and many more.
• Undertaking history, and physical examinations as required, determining diagnoses and differential diagnoses of patients, arranging appropriate investigations and discussing management plans with consultants.
• Prescribing medications as required, implementing treatment plans for patient’s presenting health condition after discussion with the consultant
• Attending ward rounds with consultants, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to maximize patient’s health outcomes.
• Referring patients to specialists/tertiary care hospitals for further treatment when required.
• Providing counseling for both patients/family members/carers.
• Recording and maintaining accurate, adequate, and relevant patient records.
• Preparing discharge summaries, organizing appropriate follow up with patients for further treatment/advice relative to their diagnoses.
• Assisting Surgeons in major surgeries such as Total hip replacement, Total Knee Replacement, Ligament repair surgeries, Rotator Cuff Repair, Open reduction and internal fixation of fractures, and many more.
• Complying with national immunization program and advocating appropriate screening as per guidelines.
• Commitment to principles and practices of infection control as designated by the Hospital guidelines.
• Implementing and adhering to the Hospital’s policies and protocols.
• Participating in professional development by undertaking learning activities through CPDs and regularly attending RMO Teaching classes.

A busy private hospital with fully accredited emergency, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, and medicine departments. I had rotations in Emergency, Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology with the following responsibilities:

• Receiving acute emergencies, accessing and managing those emergencies on a triage basis.
• Undertaking history and performing relevant clinical examination, ordering investigations and discussing treatment plans with consultants.
• Performing minor surgical procedures such as stitching lacerations, incisions and drainage of abscesses, irrigation of infected wounds, etc.
• Assisting the consultant in surgeries such as C-section, hysterectomy, laparotomy, Dilatation and Curettage, instrumental and normal vaginal deliveries.
• Providing pre-operative care, counseling about procedures, obtaining consent, and post-op care.
• Providing antenatal care, postnatal care in obstetric department, newborn assessment, and resuscitation after deliveries.
• Providing care to admitted patients, preparing discharge summaries and arranging follow up plans for the patients after discussion with the consultant.
• Attending academic activities such as classes, workshops, case conferences and journal clubs

A very busy tertiary care hospital with 900 beds, providing excellent and affordable health services with an equal focus on medical education and research. I had exposure to various emergencies and hands-on experience in:

• Providing acute care as a part of a multidisciplinary team, in managing acute emergencies such as fluid resuscitation of severely dehydrated children, diabetic ketoacidosis, seizures, acute abdomen, burns, motor vehicle accidents, and foreign body inhalation.
• Assessment and evaluation of patients by undertaking history and performing relevant physical examination for cases such as inborn errors of metabolism, assessing developmental milestones, and neuromuscular disease cases including Myasthenia Gravis, and Guillain-Barre syndrome, and formulating management plans after discussion with consultants.
• Assisting consultants for procedures such as endoscopies, liver biopsies, colonoscopies, and esophageal foreign body removal.
• Attending academic activities such as workshops, case conferences and teaching classes.
• Conducted research on child abuse.

A small hospital run by an NGO, offering basic healthcare services including inpatient and outpatient care, ultrasound and vaccination facilities, and a minor operation theatre.

My responsibilities included:

• Assessing and evaluating patients with a wide range of health issues.
• Providing contraceptive counseling, community-based antenatal and postnatal care, and managing reproductive health issues such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), lower genital tract infections, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and per vaginal (PV) bleeding.
• Performing antenatal ultrasound scans.
• Organizing free medical camps to address common health issues in women, children, and the elderly, including respiratory infections, skin diseases, worm infestations, nutritional deficiencies, and anemia.
• Attending conferences, workshops, and case presentations to enhance professional development and stay updated with current medical practices.

A government hospital with high patient turnover with indoor, and outdoor services and a minor Operating Theater

• Responsible for the assessment of patients,undertaking history, performing physical examination, providing treatment, and admitting Patients when required under supervision.
• Arranging medical camps for health awareness, and participating in vaccination campaigns.
• Management of acute medical and surgical emergencies, including severe dehydration, accidents, and burns.
• Participating in case conferences and teaching classes.

These hospitals are tertiary care hospitals with high patient turnover, providing multidisciplinary care to the patients. I had rotations in the following departments:

General Medicine, Paediatric Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Plastic Surgery, Cardiology, Emergency.

• My responsibilities included:
• Admitting patients to relevant wards after taking history, performing physical examinations, making differential diagnosis and ordering investigations, discussing treatment options with consultants.
• Presenting cases during ward rounds, documenting consultant decisions, and teaching medical students.
• Attending Intern teachings and participating in case presentations.
