2015 when I became a full time wheelchair user,
Six months out of rehab I picked up a tennis racket & one year on I started playing nationally,
where I won many titles all over Australia.
I was ranked 20th in the world & 3rd here Australia,
I won Bronze in the Arafura Games,
Became Australian Quad Champion,
2019:
I started playing Para Badminton.
I won the title of Australian Female Quad Champion,
Then Covid hit & now I'm training for all International tournaments,
chasing Paris Paralympics 2024,
Became runner up for Sportsman of the year twice,
As a person living with a disabilit
To work on equality & not to be judge as a lot of people still see people with Disabilities
not to be able to achieve a lot of things,
This is where the acceptance comes into play,
Now I will tell you about some of my Family,
My older Brother Les has autism,
when we was growing up in the 1970's
there wasn't a thing called Autism
It was just a mental illness,
so my Brother ended up institutionalised in Morisset for many years,
Because of the stigma.
Now Les has been with Challenge for many years & very happy,
I have three Nephews who has Autism as well,
They are doing fine,
My Great Niece Dolly 2014-2019
Aunty's Dolly,
Dolly was born with severe cerebral palsy
Also Pontocerbellar hypoplasia
meaning small head,
Dolly's brain had nowhere to grow,
she was none verbal & suffered a lot spasticity & lot of Seizures.
I miss her every day.
Ok my teammate:
we have on tour a lot of our players have cerebral palsy,
Quad/Para
short stature
amputtee
I love it,Seeing all of us who has disabilities,
we just blend so well & we don't see our disabilities,we are just a team,
Thank you for reading this & to have a bit of a insight of me as a person,
