My duties included:

  • To manually unload 40FT containers of passenger, SUV, or 4WD tyres. Each container would be tightly loaded with excess of 900 tyres.
  • Strong record keeping required of all inventory received. This was to confirm all stock received matched against the packing slip from sending company, for any mismatching items.
  • The role required that I use a standard sit-down forklift to provide empty stillages to container unloader(s). Once the stillages were full I would then forklift into the warehouse and stack them correctly and safety in their predesignated areas (with a maximum 6MT height).

  • Prepare freight and documentation for outgoing international flights.
  • Assist in location and then relocation of all freight to be collected Relocate freight to the TARMAC on a RF Scanner, then physically move the load onto a Profile or Dolly, ensuring that all the safety locks are engaged and goods are safe to move. I will then use a Tug-truck to move the profiles onto a safe staging area.
  • Operate forklifts, tugs and equipment on a day-to-day basis within OH&S guidelines.
  • Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs and any OHS issues that need to be reported to management.

  • Other ADHOC duties as assigned, including working with other unfamiliar teams to assist in staff shortfalls.

My duties included: (3 month temp contract)

  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance in shipment paperwork for all exports leaving Perth Gateway, both domestic and international.
  • Perusing all invoices from incoming delivery drivers (50-70 drivers per day) for potential issues including dollar figures, incomplete sender and receiver details, goods being shipped and destination countries.
  • High volume scanning, sorting and filing of documentation. Using RF scanners to ensure the right parcels are going to the correct container.
  • High attention to detail with a good understanding of dangerous goods and Embargoed or Un-Sanctioned countries that require further investigation prior to approval to ship.
  • Communicating with DHL colleagues across the globe to assist with shipment enquiries by phone and email, including Australian customs.
  • Adhering to a strict time management schedule to ensure shipments do not miss outgoing nightly flights.

  • Understanding the difference between customer wants and their needs, as on occasion they may be different. Also be able to explain to the customer the difference and how the product will benefit them.
  • End to end operation of the mortgage. It was my role to not only write the loan, but to also keep contact with customer until property settlement.
