Currently, I am a Permanent Part-time Disability Support Worker in Somerville. I have been with Somerville for almost a year now and perform daily tasks to support participants such as meal preparation, administering medications, laundry , accompany clients out for community access, helping for showering etc.

Shift Supervisor Role In Secure Care Facility

  • To delegate daily tasks to (Disability Support Workers)
  • To resolve or deal with issues that arise at the workplace between staff.
  • To reports to management on time.
  • Implementing Positive Behavioural Support Plan (PBSP) by planning daily support activity, using client-centre support model; meaning empowering clients to maximise their independence and enhance client's choices to choose the activity they want to participate.
  • Promote teamwork and provide daily support to DSW to perform their duties to the highest standard, such as administer medications and behaviour support plan implementation.
  • Provide training/ orientation to new staff and as well as old ones if required.
  • Writing daily/progress notes and incident reports obligation on timely.
  • Preforming duties and other tasks being delegated by Line Manager or other stakeholders.
  • Assisting clients/participants on taking daily medications
  • Meal's planning/preparation
  • Managing or supporting clients/participants with challenging behaviours.
  • Taking clients out for community access and learning simple words in Indigenous Languages to communicate effectively on day-to-day activity and acting appropriately in cultural safety whenever accompanying clients in Aboriginal communities (etc.)

Aims And Goals

My aims and goals in this position is to provide daily active support and to bring positive changes to clients with behavioural concerns. To promote cultural safety and be able to work collaboratively with Indigenous community (ALO) and other stakeholders for the benefits of the clients. I will be working hands in hands together with line Management and physical staff, such as that we deliver and coordinate services to participants. I will be adhered and strictly followed the guidelines, policy, and procedure of Life Without Barriers (LWB)

Other Requirements

  • Always aim to provide a Person-Centred Approach.
  • Have a current Senior First Aid/CPR qualification.
  • Have a Certificate III in Disability, Certificate IV in Community Service and Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.
  • Own a reliable car and have NT current Manual Driver licence (no demerits).
