In the infection control and workplace health and safety units I learnt the importance of hand hygiene, use of standard and additional PPE, environmental cleaning, and knowledge of different microorganisms.
Having grown up in an extended family, I value people and enjoy lending a hand when I can. In my opinion, integrity means being truthful, reliable, and always acting in a professional manner while serving the community. When we show respect, we welcome diversity, treat everyone equally and with dignity, and take into account and cherish all points of view. Courage to serve in the face of hardship and hold one another accountable.
Through my experience at QML, I have learned how crucial it is to maintain the integrity of blood specimens for laboratory testing by employing the right technique and proper tube selection. And ensuring that the specimens will be sent to the appropriate lab departments, as well as working with lab staff to address any specimen-related issues.
I gained knowledge on collecting venous blood and non-blood specimens at LTT and during my time at the QML Clinic. I also understand the significance of accuracy and how samples should be received, prepared, and dispatched.
At Global Foods Kilcoy I made it a point to speak with my manager about the production and the tasks at hand every morning before I started work. I took pride in the precision of my work and made sure to finish everything before the night shift workers arrived, even if it meant putting in extra time. At the QML clinic, I also show a strong commitment to the concepts of quality management and continuous quality improvement and In my capacity as a pathology collector, I always make sure that specimens handled by specimen reception are sorted, processed, and delivered to lab workstations on time.
With my clinic experience, I have demonstrated my capacity to collaborate well with others and interact with clients, clinical staff, and coworkers. And I support giving patient care top priority in a medical facility.
Maintaining the phlebotomy supplies inventory and placing fresh orders as needed are essential skills for a pathology collector at QML. And I am aware that its availability is necessary for the timely and effective treatment of patients. By accurately documenting inventory levels, expiration dates, and storage conditions, labs ensure that all tests are based on high-quality, uncontaminated materials. Furthermore, keeping things safe and clean is crucial for both patients and staff and following strict hygienic criteria is essential for maintaining everyone's health and guaranteeing the reliability of test results.
