Operations Manager

Sandhurst Club

Sandhurst is a premier golf and lifestyle Club comprising two championship golf courses, over 1300 residences, a Clubhouse and Health Club with an annual turnover in excess of $13M.

As Operations Manager I have full managerial and P&L responsibility for all operational aspects of the Club with 5 direct reports and management of over 60 staff. My portfolio of responsibilities encompass :

  • All hospitality operations including restaurant, members' bar, café and function rooms.
  • All sports operations including management of golf courses, health club, swimming pool and tennis courts.
  • Management of external service provider contracts including golf course maintenance, estate landscaping and security services.

Fundamental to the role is the development and maintenance of functional relationships with key stakeholders including club members, members of the board and committees and
members.
During my time at Sandhurst the Club has gone from an annual loss of over $1.5M to the reliable achievement of annual trading surpluses.
As part of the Executive team I am heavily involved in the development of all plans, strategic, business and operational along with budgets, training programs and policies and procedures.
I was engaged by Sandhurst Club in late 2012 to provide support to the CEO as the Club navigated a transition from developer control to member control.

Select Braemar Lodge is a Luxury Alpine Retreat and Spa on the South island of NZ close to Christchurch. I was engaged to oversee pre-opening and opening of the lodge.

  • Establishment and management of all online sales channels

Rendezvous Reef Resort Port Douglas (Now Rydges)

Rendezvous Reef Resort is a 186 villa strata title resort in Port Douglas.  I was transferred within Rendezvous Hotels to over see a $4M redevelopment of the resort including upgrades to the main reception area, restaurant and bar and leisure facilities.

Key responsibilities:
  • Liaison with owners corporation and individual owners of villas including monthly reporting.
  • Full trust accounting responsibilities including holding restricted real estate licence
  • Management of all aspects of the Resort's operation
  • Extensive reporting to Corporate Office including daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Full accounting responsibilities including generation of P&L on monthly basis and payroll processing
  • Revenue management including development and implementation of a dynamic pricing model
  • Liaison with local, regional and state tourism bodies and local tourism operators
  • Holder of liquor licence

Rendezvous Sanctuary Resort (Now Oaks)

Rendezvous Sanctuary Resort is a 167 villa strata title resort in Broome, WA.  I was transferred within Rendezvous Hotels to manage the property through final stages of construction through to opening and beyond.

Rendezvous Hotel Brisbane is a 138 all suite strata titled hotel in the CBD of Brisbane catering largely to the corporate market.  This was my first General Manager posting and I was successful in turning a loss maker into a prospering business that delivered a nett contribution of over $1M per annum to the holding company.

  • Management of all aspects of the hotel's operation
  • Full responsibility for all administrative and accounting requirements for the property
  • Liaison with and reporting to the Body Corporate and individual owners.
