I completed my placement for University at Tweed Valley Hospital, formerly Tweed Heads Hospital. This is a public, multi-disciplinary 24/7 hospital laboratory. It is a fast paced and well-structured environment. I worked and gained experience in the following fields: haematology, biochemistry, transfusion sciences, biochemistry, microbiology and CSR. My time at placement was truly foundational to my undersdtanding and admiration of laboratory sciences.

Some skills I am proficient in are:

• Specimen reception and data entry
• Working with specimens and Auslab.
• Agar plate preparation.
• Blood smears.
• Using relevant machines for biochemistry, haematology, microbiology and transfusion sciences.
