  • Having made the transition to Leisure and Lifestyle, my duties as a Lifestyle staff member are primarily to provide residents of Havilah Hostel with a range of suitable, engaging and challenging activities with as much variety as possible. My role involves residents confined to the dementia area of the hostel, though I fill in in other areas from time to time and over the weekend period, taking a self-initiated craft session on Sunday mornings and call the Bingo on Sunday afternoons.
  • My responsibilities in my usual place of work, Heath House, is to take residents on bus trips, serve them Special Morning Tea and meals, partake in quizzes, music sessions, tell jokes and read the residents interesting stories from magazines and picture books. Havilah has a range of throwing games and exercise routines that I also do with them, as well as taking them to events as organised by our Community Liaison Officer. All activities are then recorded in our computer system and notes kept on any cognitive changes observed.
