I am planning on studying Occupational Therapy after completing a year of Nursing at University. My previous experience has equipped me with effective strategies for individual support plans, resulting in significant improvements in student engagement and academic achievement. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, I am committed to empowering students to reach their full potential through tailored educational strategies and emotional support. Connecting with the teaching staff is essential to me to enhance a creative positive learning atmosphere.
As a Casual SLSO in a small local public school, I have gained hands-on experience in supporting diverse student needs and fostering a positive learning environment. Working closely with teachers, I have developed a keen understanding of educational strategies and the importance of creating an inclusive, nurturing atmosphere that encourages every child's academic and personal growth.
Living on a regional family farm has taught me how to mentally prepare for an array of different circumstances. Growing up and working on a family stock farm, I developed a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and a deep appreciation for teamwork and communication. Farming in a rural community can be very isolating so building social connections while achieving tasks has proved a useful skill. I am now versed in a variety of manual labour tasks. This experience taught me the importance of responsibility, time management, and adaptability in a dynamic environment. I also gained practical skills in animal care, farm management, and operational efficiency, which have equipped me with a unique perspective and a versatile skill set.
During my international gap year, I worked in a day and boarding school with children aged 2-18. I was a permanent teaching assistant within the PE department during the school day.
This experience allowed me to develop a global perspective on education and child development. Working with a diverse student population, I learned to adapt teaching methods to meet varying needs and fostered a nurturing environment that promoted both academic and personal growth.
