Graeme Woodhouse

Duties:

1. To assist staff with:

· General patient care and supervision.

· Psychiatric emergency or potential emergency situations.

· Seclusion and “safe restraint” of patients.

· General patient observation, excluding clinical observation.

· Assisting patients with activities of daily living, e.g. nutrition, personal hygiene and grooming, dressing, laundering of clothing.

· The provision of recreational and diversional activities.

· Escort and courier services (including some driving).

2. As ward priorities permit, participate in carrying out cleaning duties in the High Dependency Unit.

3. Participate in appropriate training and staff development activities, including performance development and planning.

4. Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training, ensuring that quality and safety improvement processes are in place and acted upon.

• Assisted with dressing guidance, grooming, meal preparation and medication reminders.
• Built strong relationships with clients to deliver emotional support and companionship.
• Engaged patients in meaningful conversation, socialization and activity while providing personal care assistance.
• Assisted clients with daily living needs to maintain self-esteem and general wellness.
• Assisted with feeding and monitored intake to help patients achieve nutritional objectives.
• Supported clients with mental support and physical activities to accomplish quality of life and sustain needs.
• Recognized and reported abnormalities or changes in patients' health status to case manager.
