I have worked in a variety of places which has given me life experience at working in different communities.
I have worked at Greenwith Primary School for a period of 16 years and have had numerous roles. This have given me a vast knowledge of various roles and skills that are needed to perform in these roles. I have been a class teacher including all year levels from Lower Primary to Middle and Upper. These have included a Year 4/5 Class, Year 2/3 Class, Foundation and Year 1 Class for many years.
I have also had Specialist positions such as Health and Physical Education, assisting with leadership roles of Behaviour management and being part of PAC (Personal Advisory Committee) to discuss and assist with Human Resource matters of teaching positions.
I also have a deep understanding of the complexities and needs of teaching students. I am able to build a strong rapport with students in my care. I do this through helping them with their learning, building up trust and understanding and providing a support network for the students. I plan and use the Australian Curriculum and use a variety of teaching techniques to cater for all the different needs of students in my class.
I worked as a team member supporting Adults with Disabilities working in a Commercial Nursery. This included working with adults that had a variety of cognitive and physical disabilities. Part of my role was helping these adults to participate and successfully achieve their goals in an employment setting. It required high level personal skills and the ability to problem solve issues that would arise on a daily basis. Having a professional approach to each and every situation was imperative to help all adults in my care.
Working as a member of a team gave me skills in helping to manage and run the daily activities required in a commercial nursery. Stock taking, talking to customers in person and over the phone, delivering stock to retail outlets, ordering stock, plant propagation, watering, weed management, machinery maintance, using the computer to order and place retail orders, manage the needs of adults in my care including supervising and supporting up to 20 adults at a time in a workshop setting, as well as in the nursery. I also had to use machinery such as a tractor and loading of trucks and driving a van for deliveries.
Worked in a remote Aboriginal Community helping students with an ESL background, some non English speakers. Had to help with the running of the school and many administrative duties. Working with an Indigenous Community to meet their needs. Promoting and encouraging all students to gain an education to improve their job prospects.

At times I also had to take on the role as Acting Principal and work through issues that the school may face. Conflict resolution in a remote community can be highly volatile and I needed to communicate effectively to resolve problems and show an understanding and empathy with all groups concerned for an effective outcome.
