Accomplishments

At the end of 2024, I participated in Council's Emerging Leaders program that provided people management training to people who are acting in or working towards leadership roles.

Following on from that was an invitation to participate in the NSW 2025 Australasian Management Challenge which, I did by joining a team of six from various sections of Council. The practice activities included solving workplace projects and scenarios in a very short time frame and presenting the results in the most appropriate format including videos, press briefings, CEO reports, and the like. The team then competed against 21 other teams from across NSW local governments to complete 11 tasks on the day. This was the first time in five years that Liverpool competed in the challenge, so we learnt that we had room for improvement the next time Council enters a team. I learnt a great deal from the experience in relation to teamwork, problem solving, leadership styles, time management, and working across various sections of Council in order to achieve desired outcomes.

As a result of the above, I am now in one of the Process Improvement teams that is involved in refining and developing the systems used in Council.
