  • Responsibility: I am leading a team of 9 technical professionals from two different schools (School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and School of Engineering), Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University. My role is to provide specialist technical advice, support, and assistance to academic staff and students - ensuring effective and sustainable delivery of high-quality research, learning & teaching, outreach and engagement outcomes. This role included:
  • Managing, and maintaining technical facilities, teaching labs, research labs and laboratory assets.
  • Efficient in Relocation buildings and setting up new research and teaching labs
  • Technical operations budget, expenditure, and funding applications.
  • Managing teaching laboratory operations and casual academic staff.
  • Managing the team by having regular team meetings and having open discussions
  • Setting up the team’s annual goals in their performance and review, reviewing/analysing the team’s performance during one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Recruiting new staff members by identifying the need to increase the resources and to increase the flexibility in the team.

Senior Postdoctoral researcher

  • Responsibility: Worked on a time-constrained project to build a compact (< 50cc) and low-power mercury (< 200mW) ion clock for DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Project Agency, USA). Importance of the project: The deep-space missions and international space stations (ISS) are going to hugely benefitted from such onboard portable atomic clocks that can save valuable antenna usage at Deep Space Network (DSN) sites and can be extremely cost-effective. A similar atomic clock is already operating in the International Space Station.
  • Initiated, designed and successfully finished the first phase of the project.
  • Awarded as an outstanding performance (Team) for completing the first phase, satisfying all the metrics and pushing the project to get successful funding for the next two years from DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Project Agency, USA).
  • Worked closely with a team of top-notch engineers and scientists in a competitive environment with a strict time-bound deadlines.
