I’m a compassionate and organised nursing student with hands-on experience volunteering in community events with the Ethiopian Community Association of Victoria. I’ve enjoyed helping set up events, connecting people with important healthcare resources, and collaborating with professionals to support youth and African communities around Melbourne. I also take pride in promoting Ethiopian culture and helping people feel included and informed. Through these experiences, I’ve developed strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, which I bring into both community initiatives and my nursing practice.
· Helped organise and run creative workshops around Melbourne (mainly in Footscray, Coburg), which gave people a fun and welcoming space to connect through fashion and art.
· Took part in selling products at local events and markets, and was proud to help achieve great sales and build genuine connections with customers.
· Supported the behind-the-scenes set-up and planning of events, making sure everything ran smoothly and felt well put together for everyone involved.
· This volunteering role strengthened my communication, time management, and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. I carry into my nursing practice when collaborating with teams and supporting patients from all walks of life.
