I am a dedicated and passionate Registered Nurse with a progressive career history in surgical, general acute and neonatal care. While these area's of nursing are vastly different they have all been integral in creating the nurse I have become today. During my time in the NICU I quickly became a senior member of staff completing my Neonatal Advance Life Support, caring for critically ill neonates and attending neonatal resuscitations and high risk deliveries. Since returning to general acute eight months ago again, I have quickly become a senior staff member completing my ALS and attending MET calls and code blue's as part of the Medical Emergency Response team in my rural hospital. Proving my ability to skilfully handle difficult situations in high stress environments while remaining calm under pressure.
Throughout my career I have cared for many patients and families within their most vulnerable times and learnt to build therapeutic relationships with them and advocate their needs when sometimes feel as though they're not being heard. Evidently in my few short years of nursing I have played a lot of roles and have learnt I can adapt my skills to suit the needs of my role and my patients. However I have always had a strong calling & passion for women, children & neonates. I loved my work in the NICU and have always had plans to further expand my knowledge and skills in becoming a midwife & believe now is the right time for me to start.
I bring to midwifery an ability to adapt to changing needs & environments. The ability to remain calm and respond to emergencies. The knowledge to provide comprehensive care of the neonate. Compassion, kindness & a voice for women to help advocate for their needs & ever so importantly a passion for my nursing career and it's progression into midwifery.
