My journey with childcare education starting in 2012 when i moved to a remote Indigenous Community called Cunnamulla.
Prior to this i worked as a chef and managed businesses on the Sunshine Coast and was the owner of my own cafe in Cooroy.
I have always relished in training and supporting learning from a very early stage in my career, this was mainly based by growing up in a Restaurant family and learning the importance of working your way up through your work journey.
The move to Cunnamulla came after i wanted to turn my hand at a new career and this was working with children in learning areas and in a remote community were my passion was to help others learn and grow.
When i first moved to Cunnamulla i started as a assistant in the babies room, and within 6 weeks i was given the opportunity to be the lead Educator in the 3-5 year room whilst studying, at this point i had started my study journey to complete my Certificate 3 first then move onto my Diploma. I studied my certificate 3 through open colleges and so glad i did as this was extensive learning and assignments, i feel this really honed my ability to understand my job role, and from there my journey continued.
I had a huge passion for working with children, staff and within the Aboriginal community.
I worked my way up as a educator to be a Supervisor, Education leader and then Director, over my 11 years residing in Cunnamulla .
I worked in all rooms, as lead Educators, supervisor and then as a Director with a very hands on approach to children staff and families i also ran the after school care and vacation programs.
My passion has always been supporting staff and leaning by been hands and continuing to grow. My journey in Cunnamulla taught me so much about my self and the love and passion i hold in the Early childhood learning and teaching and Aboriginal Culture.
