I am a passionate animal lover, with experience within the fields of Dog Training, Dog Behaviour, Doggy Daycare and Dog Handling. I am always striving to further my knowledge in the industry with a high level of work ethic.

Other Tasks within the roll:
Bathing, Blow drying, Brushing and Nail Clipping dogs of different breeds, ages and temperaments. I am able to provide clients with basic information about their dogs grooming needs, for example; a grooming schedule for their dog, what brushes and brush techniques to be using to maintain their dogs coat condition.
My daily roles of being a dog handler include the grouping and supervising of over 60 dogs daily, this includes memorizing and knowing over 100 dogs' names and temperaments in order to do so safely and effectively. I also organize and provide the dogs with daily enrichment activities whether this be in a group environment or on their own, meaning I have a high level of knowledge about each individual dog in my care and their obedience and health status. I am also responsible for documenting and managing behaviours and injuries and ensuring they are communicated clearly to my colleagues and dog owners. I am also one of only two staff who are delegated the task of completing daily temperament tests for all new dogs wanting to join the centre, I have knowledge on dog behaviour and body language as well as having the dogs best interest at heart and ensuring they are comfortable and enjoying their time in the new environment. My role also includes costumer service and I ensure I provide clear communication, feedback and any behavioural/ training recommendations or strategies to clients.
My daily tasks whilst in reception include:
- Working with the computer system "Pet Exec"
- Managing bookings, inquiries and scheduling via email, phone calls and face to face with clients and customers.
- Memorizing the details of services offered, such as pricing and timing.
- Coming up with organizational solutions to help streamline processes, such as creating email templates, ways to ensure clear communication between staff with different job titles as well as creating detailed "how to" document to help train new staff taking on the reception roles.
- Obtaining and recording payments from clients, either via Eftpos or cash, over the phone and sending out invoices.
- Multitasking and prioritizing reception tasks to ensure efficiency.
- Confirming and rescheduling appointments.
My favourite thing about doing both the handler position and the reception position is I have been able to make really good relationships and friendships with our clients, I think it’s such an important part of the job to be open and honest and involved with the clients about their dog/s and being able to update them on their day and provide feedback. I believe it is a big responsibility to care for someone else’s pet there is a lot of trust involved, it would be a big deal for me to leave my dog with someone to care for them so I take my position very seriously.

2nd INCHARGE ROLE: Covering for management when they are not on shift, organizing the daily schedule, staff breaks and delegating tasks to staff.
PET SITTING: Feeding, walking, giving medication and ensuring I care for the pet as if they are my own.
PET TAXI: Collecting dogs from their home and ensuring they arrive safely to and from the daycare facility.
SOCIAL MEDIA: Creating advertising and organizing for any events or parties we are hosting as well as coming up with interesting and eye catching photos to post on the Facebook and Instagram accounts, this is a big interest of mine, i enjoy creating and using creative platforms.
CLEANING TASKS: Including the understanding of specific animal industry cleaning products such as F10 & Odarid and their dilution ratio's along with house keeping tasks like vacuuming, mopping, steam mopping, cleaning of astro turf and rubber areas, cleaning reception areas, staff rooms, toilets, gutters, kitchen areas, grooming areas and tools.
DOG WALKING: Taking dogs on on-lead and off-lead walks either by themselves or as a group.
I started off by completing my work placement for my certificate, at The Pets Hotel before I was offered a position within the team.
My roles included:
- Dog handler in their doggy daycare daycare environment
- Pet attendant, completing routine check's of the dogs and cats in care.
- Receptionist, managing bookings and inquires via email, over the phone and face to face with clients.
- 2IC stand in.
- Grooming, bathing, brushing and blow-drying of multiple dog breeds.
- Dog walking.
