  • Have completed two harvests and three seeding's for the Cooke family, which included a 11-month stint in 2022 from seeding right through to a harvest that year. Followed by 3 month stints scattered over the last few years.
  • Working within a large team, often coordinating other members throughout busy periods.
  • Working large hours to complete a range of tasks such as, seeding, spraying spreading and harvesting on a 15,000ha mixed cropping programme.
  • Operating large machinery with care as well as general maintenance and repair work to all the machinery.
  • Inspected fields regularly to identify pests or diseases that may harm crop growth.

  • Working in a smaller team meant I received more time to work closely with the farm owner/manager, who was a very efficient and modern farmer.
  • Breeding stock and trading cattle. Finishing all their own lambs as well as buying in stores dependent on the season. Fantastic farming systems and great learning.
  • Constantly trading beef cattle and finishing them under fixed grid irrigation.
  • Mixed stock work, consistently weighing and shifting cattle and lambs and making decisions accordingly. Keeping on top of all animal health requirements, to keep the stock at best possible performance.

Career Goals

Looking to secure a position within a supportive team environment to enhance my skills and knowledge in the agricultural industry over the next few years. Aiming to continue learning as well as gaining valuable experience before exploring opportunities overseas for a year. Eventually, my goal is to return to the family farm, where I can apply my learnings and contribute to its success.
