  • Responsible for the metallurgical performance of the plant on a day-to-day basis by providing technical support to the operating teams.
  • Co-ordinate the investigation of performance deviations from target ensuring that solutions are embedded into the standard operating practise and communicated effectively.
  • Provide technical reports on plant performance analysis and projects with statistical analysis used where possible to validate results.
  • Manage and complete the EOM production reconciliation and review all metallurgical reporting.
  • Liaise with mining and geology to ensure the correct grade material is being delivered to the plant and provide feedback in regard to plant performance.
  • Analyse inefficiencies and identify bottlenecks through operational performance data and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee the implementation of approved process improvement projects within agreed timelines and cost imperatives.
  • Ensure the integrity and reliability of processing data by regularly checking and ensuring calibrations are undertaken on all critical data collection systems and equipment.
  • Liaise with production and maintenance personnel to on planned maintenance programmes, including shutdowns, to maximise availability and reliability of the processing plant.
  • Work towards building strong relationships between the metallurgy and operations teams based on effective communication.
  • Work towards building strong interdepartmental relationships between metallurgy and geology, maintenance and process control based on effective communication.
  • Participate in the identification, development and implementation of improvement projects.
  • Experience in varies processing equipment, includes but not limit to crushers (Jaw crusher, cone crusher, HPGR), grinding (Ball mill, tower mill), magnetic separation, flotation and filter press.

Plant Metallurgist

NORTON GOLD FIELDS - BINDULI LOW GRADE GOLD HEAP LEACH OPERATION

  • Participate in this brand-new site construction/commissioning/operation stages and provide process technical support on the plant to the mechanical/electrical/safety/operating teams
  • This includes the whole processing from ROM to dry crushing area, to heap leaching area, to wet adsorption area and gold room
  • Develop appropriate technical strategies/SOPs to achieve production targets and ensure each stage's outcome quality
  • This includes day-to-day basis process review, operating strategies, and troubleshooting
  • Liaise with mine planning and geology teams to ensure ore feed characteristics (ore grade, moisture, resource etc.) are well understood and forecasted, and processing plant parameters are optimised, for maximum production volume, quality, and cost efficiency
  • Compose and complete daily, weekly, monthly and annual metallurgical reports and fortnightly gold reconciliation
  • This includes using advanced Excel skills to establish metallurgical accounting from zero to a comprehensive report
  • Apply for site DG license/poison permit and manage processing plant multiple reagents
  • Understand WA Act and regulations regarding dangerous goods
  • Liaise with multiple teams to record the consumption of reagents and develop safety-related SOPs
  • Optimise the reagents consumption to achieve cost efficiency
  • Establish and manage two laboratories (1 solid samples testing lab and 1 aqueous samples testing lab) from lab design/construction/commissioning/operation to equipment selection/procurement/management
  • Assure that all equipment operates satisfactorily and is properly maintained
  • Provide all equipment training to the metallurgical/operation team to conduct the routine samples testing
  • Experience in various equipment control and optimisation throughout the whole mining processing plant, which includes but not limited to dry area (Jaw crusher, cone crusher, screens, HPGR and agglomerator), wet area (Heap leaching pad stacking, dripping irrigation, CIC adsorption and gold room), and water treatment plant (MMF, UF, NF, water balance).
