Bacto-Mycology Unit -2 weeks
- Received exposure to examining, interpreting, and identifying pathogens in cultures from diverse clinical specimens, including urine, genital samples, sputum, bronchial specimens, non-sterile site samples, sterile site specimens, and blood cultures.
Molecular Diagnostic Unit -1 week
- Familiar with Biofires, rapid tests, master mixes, nucleic acid extraction methods, quality controls, and PCR techniques.
Environmental Microbiology Unit -1 week
- Acquired foundational experience in food, water, and vitamin laboratory methods and procedures, and in identifying common micro-organisms, in EMU environments.
Serology -1 week
- Knowledgeable in Treponema serology and EBV principles of detection, as well as Hepatitis, and HIV serology.
- Familiar with Abbott Architect i2000SR and Abbott Alinity i
Enteric -1 week
- Basic experience in routine enteric culture methods, parasitology, microscopy techniques, and Salmonella serotyping.
