I am a professional editor and writer with a strong track record of enhancing content quality and managing editorial processes.
My experience in various forms of editing – development, structural and copy editing – enables me to ensure consistent quality and accuracy within manuscripts and across series.
I have a deep understanding of editorial workflows and a history of meeting evolving editorial needs.
I have included only some of the companies I have worked for on a contract or freelance basis. I have also worked for individual authors.
Before becoming a freelance editor I worked in-house with Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press and Pearson Education.
As an author, I have been published by Pearson Education and National Geographic. Also, I have written what I hope to be a definitive style manual for Hansard.
Hansard serves as the official rational verbatim record of parliamentary proceedings, which meant that I needed a good understanding of general grammar that is critical to maintaining accuracy and clarity for posterity while maintaining the voice of the speaker, yet understanding that people would be reading the text today and may well have seen or heard it broadcast. It was a fine balancing act.
Ensured timely delivery of high-quality editorial work by revising a wide array of content for accuracy, clarity and consistency.
Responsible for versioning learning materials from American English to Australian English and from Australian English to American English, and ensuring that the artwork was appropriate for each market.
